Invasive Species Removal
Invasive Species Removal! The Friends of Council Grounds State Park…
The Friends of Council Grounds State Park assisted the DNR and park staff in removing
invasive species in a large area along the Brown Trail. Buckthorn and honeysuckle were
some of the invasive species removed and destroyed. The stumps of these invasive
plants were then treated with herbicide to ensure the plant does not regrow.
Invasive species disrupt a forests ecosystem by outcompeting native plants for
resources. Removing these undesirable invasive plants will help to reestablish a natural
and healthier park.
