Hiking at Council Grounds State Park

Hiking Trails

Enjoy over 4 Miles of scenic trails

There are 5 different hiking trails at Council Grounds State Park covering over 4 miles. This includes the 1.5 mile Northwest Trail which travels over boardwalks through meadows and various pine trees while connecting to the campground. A new Blue Trail will be completed in 2023 connecting to the Brown Trail in the Southeast corner of the park.

In addition, the Ice Age Trail travels just north of Council Grounds and includes a beautiful section close to Grandfather Falls. 

Finally, Council Grounds State Park connects to Merril’s River Bend Trail which travels through the town of Merrill and includes beautiful views of the Wisconsin River.
