The Friends of Council Grounds State Park Wood Team was asked to assist the DNR with clearing a pine that came down in last night’s storm. The tree had fallen completely across the park road causing a temporary closure of the park road. This tree was located below the WPS dam near the canoe portage. It is thought that this tree was struck by lightning.

The trunk of the tree will be processed, split and dried providing an opportunity for future campers in the park to purchase as campfire wood. The branches and other brush were chipped on the site.
